About GRREAT
GRREAT is an all-volunteer, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization that relies on the generosity of its members and donors to support its rescue efforts and educational programs. We receive no government grants or subsidies, and have no paid staff or paid fundraisers. What began over four decades ago with a handful of dog lovers, has morphed into a vast network of volunteers and foster homes extending from the metropolitan Washington area into Delaware, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. Today, GRREAT is one of the largest Golden Retriever rescues in the country.
Thanks to our dedicated volunteers, skilled veterinarians, and the generosity, support, and compassion of animal lovers like you, we have found loving forever homes for almost 6,000 Golden Retrievers since our inception. We never have, and never will, turn away a Golden Retriever because of age, health, or medical issues.
